Since August 2014, the Hannover Chamber of Crafts (Handwerkskammer) and the Fachhochschule des Mittelstands (FHM) have been offering a three-part study course (B.A.) in the management of trade businesses aimed at talented young adults who want to pursue a career in the trades. The three-part study course combines the benefits of vocational training and the qualification as a master tradesperson with academic studies. After a four-year course, school leavers with a (vocational) school-leaving certificate can get their apprentice certificate, master certificate and a Bachelor of Arts degree in the management of trade businesses. This prepares students in a compact and practice-oriented manner for the managerial responsibilities in the trades sector and creates the best career opportunities for them. The Bachelor degree course in the management of trade businesses is absolutely unique in Northern Germany.
Trade businesses also benefit from this three-part study course: they recruit talented young adults as trainees and develop the next generation of business leaders in their sector. Moreover, they enhance their image by participating in a future-oriented training programme and gain attractiveness as employers.
