2st Symphony Concert

Under the direction of its chief conductor Stephan Zilias, the Niedersächsisches Staatsorchester is devoting itself to the theme of water in the symphony concerts on 13 and 14 October in the opera house.

Stephan Zilias

Music can be like water to us: Sometimes it ripples peacefully and yet a tiny impulse can be enough to set it in motion. Seemingly of their own accord, high waves arise, quite suddenly descending upon us. Or a raging storm might occur. In this concert programme, selected musical works that describe such timeless natural phenomena are poetically combined. Because the fascination with nature is equally evident in the classical sounds of Joseph Haydn and the powerful words of a poetry slam-text or the noise-like, dynamic music of a composer like Brett Dean, a critical analyst of our times. And so this concert will pay homage to this vital, existential and changeable element which connects us all and is worth preserving in all its beautiful, terrible, inspiring guises.
