Rational Discourse vs. Identity Politics

Open session: What distinguishes committed science from identity-political activism.

Hochschule Hannover Campus Kleefeld

An open session offers an interactive and dialogic discussion format for those interested: What distinguishes social work or other specialist disciplines as committed science from identity-political activism? Should social work or science in general avoid any political activism so that it does not undermine its claim to be a science? Or can and should committed science correspond with certain forms of political activism? In the context of social work, think of the expressions of solidarity expressed by many social workers towards the "last generation". How would you evaluate such positions? At the beginning, the topic is introduced, some methods and concepts of normative ethics are presented, in order to then be able to enter into a well-founded and objective debate using examples.
