Let´s have a party – the Maschsee Lake Festival!
Concerts, artistry and culinary specialities: every year since 1986, the people of Hannover have been joined by guests from far away for a gigantic party. With some two million visitors, the Maschsee Lake Festival is one of northern Germany’s biggest open-air parties. Right on the banks of the lake, a number of stages offer programmes for every age and every taste. Get a taste of some of the world’s culinary delights around the lake – it’s difficult to believe that it’s all taking place in northern Germany.
Herrenhausen entertains
The International Firework Competition is the place where the best pyrotechnists from all over the world compete against each other accompanied by a colourful supporting programme of performance and live music. “KunstFestSpiele” brings a unique festival delight of opera and musical performances, concerts and fine arts to Hannover. After dark the Great Garden is festively illuminated, and there is scarcely a visitor able to resist the invitation to enjoy a romantic stroll. Impressive performances have been taking place on the stage of the historic Garden Theatre for over 300 years. For several weeks in the summer, it is the “Little Festival in the Great Garden” that is the great hit with the public featuring more than 130 artist on 30 stages.
Music makes the world go round
Live music and musicals of the highest calibre are always in season in Hannover. The HDI Arena, the TUI Arena and the Swiss Life hall are the city’s outstanding venues for top international acts. “Simply make music” – that’s the motto of the global music festival “Fête de la Musique” which takes place in hundreds of cities worldwide on June 21. On Ascension day it’s “enercity swinging hannover” time in Hannover – a musical highlight joined by over 10,000 jazz fanatics on the square outside the New Town. Not to mention the legendary Jazz Band Ball in the Hannover Congress Centrum on the evening before.
