Kurfürstin Sophie von Hannover had the Great Garden laid out at the end of the 17th century in the then fashionable French style – today, the unique flair of this baroque garden is enjoyed by around half a million visitors year in year out. The adjacent Berggarten is a 300 year old botanical garden boasting around 11,000 different types of plants. The latest attraction to this ensemble is the Herrenhausen Palace Museum, which invites visitors to discover the variety of the splendid baroque palace and garden world of Herrenhausen.
